Richard B. Cluff Sr.
KENNEBUNKPORT - Richard B. Cluff Sr., 66, of Log Cabin Road, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a brief period of illness.
Born April 6, 1933, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Clyde B. and Dorothy Maxwell Cluff. In 1952 he graduated from Kennebunk High School.
He was employed by the Saco Defense Co. in Saco before working at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Shop No. 139 as a nuclear inspector. Upon his retirement in 1990, he was employed by the Dutch Elm Golf Course and also ran a painting and wallpapering business. He also ran the Cluff Small Engine repair shop at his home for several years.
He was a member of the Arundel Lodge of Masons of Kennebunkport, the Maine State Stock Car Racing Association. He was a communicant of the First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport.
He was the husband of Mildred (Bergeron) Cluff for 45 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Richard B. Cluff Jr., and Timothy L. Cluff, both of Sanford; one brother, Lee Cluff of Kennebunkport; and a grandson, Kyle Alan Cluff of Wells; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary Cluff, in 1996.
Donna L. BonEnfant
PORTSMOUTH - Donna L. "Grammie" BonEnfant, 54, of 25 Blue Heron Drive, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at her home after a long period of illness.
Born Feb. 6, 1945, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of William and Louise (Pratt) McQuilkin.
A homemaker, she enjoyed knitting, embroidery, crocheting, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a former member of TOPS of Maine.
She was the wife of Thomas J. BonEnfant Sr. of Portsmouth.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Thomas J. BonEnfant Jr. and his wife, Michele, of South Berwick; three daughters, Robyn Glover and her husband, William, of Barrington, Carol BonEnfant of Portsmouth, and Rebecca Herring and her husband, Eric, of Portsmouth; an adopted daughter, Robin Tukey and husband, Andrew, of Kittery; two grandchildren, Danielle Glover and Thomas J. BonEnfant III; three adopted grandchildren, Allyson, Samantha and Alexandria Tukey; a brother, William McQuilkin Jr. of Albion, Maine; four sisters, Barbara Shaw of Portsmouth, Carol Gordon of Portsmouth, Linda Walker of Brandon, Fla., and Bette Yohnka of Arcanum, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Brittny Glover.
Carol A. Caswell
PORTSMOUTH - Carol A. Caswell, 35, of 171 Sagamore Ave., died August 23, 1996.
Born on July 14, 1961, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Lozinak) Caswell and the late Burton C. Caswell. In 1980 she graduated from Portsmouth High School. She also attended New Hampshire Technical College.
She was a happy, loving person who enjoyed playing the piano, nature and the outdoors.
In addition to her mother of Portsmouth, she is survived by her daughter, Nichole Lyn MacKenzie of Berwick; her maternal grandparents, Michael and Julia Padula of Philadelphia; two brothers, Michael C. Caswell of North Hampton and Robert G. Caswell of Portsmouth; two sisters, Nancy M. Blaisdell and her husband Alan of Portsmouth, and Wendy L. Caswell of Portsmouth; a nephew, Timothy A. Blaisdell; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Allen K. King
NORTH HAMPTON - The funeral for Allen K. King, 77, of 108 Post Road was held Monday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton. Services were held at the United Church of Christ, North Hampton. The Rev. Raymond T. Jones, interim pastor, officiated. Gail Adams was organist. Words of remembrance were offered by Francis Grondin, Dick Jones, Charles Ashley and Allen K. King Jr. Burial followed in the Center Cemetery, North Hampton, with committal service conducted by the Rev. Jones. Pallbearers were Allen K. King Jr., Joseph P. King, Ross J. King, Geordie H. King, Timothy F. King and Richard G. King.
Edgar L. Metcalf
PORTSMOUTH - Edgar L. Metcalf, 92, of 333 Kearsarge Way, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born on February 16, 1907, in North Berwick, he was the son of the late Earl Avery and Maud E. (Allen) Metcalf.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a crane operator at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Laborers and NARFE Chapter No. 231.
He was the husband of Anna E. (Doe) Metcalf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Metcalf of Kittery, and Barry W. Metcalf of Greenland; one brother, Clayton Metcalf of Haverhill, Mass.; three sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Sanford, Ruth Bessey of Merrimac, Mass., Yvonne Seders of Newburyport, Mass.; one grandson, Eric Hardy of Kittery; one great-granddaughter, Britney Hardy of Kittery; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Everett Metcalf, Gerald Metcalf, and Paul Metcalf.
Earleen R. Collins
BRENTWOOD - Earleen R. Collins, 80, formerly of Portsmouth, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.
Born March 10, 1919, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Hormidias and Josephine (Cyr) Bilodeau. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School.
She was the wife of Cornelius Collins Sr., who died in 1981.
She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Bitoff of San Francisco and Earleen Fernald of Portsmouth; two sons, Cornelius Collins Jr. of Standish, Maine, and Thomas Collins of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anita Churchman of Portsmouth, Francis Pace of Portsmouth, and Louise Fogarty of Dover; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane E. Hoyt
GILFORD - Jane E. Hoyt, 53, of Gilford and Portsmouth, died at her home in Portsmouth on Sunday, June 13, 1999.
Born April 29, 1946, in Laconia, she was the daughter of Dr. Willis H. and Mildred L. (St. Pierre) Hoyt.
She was employed at Data General in Portsmouth.
Survivors include her parents of Gilford; two brothers, David J. Hoyt of Connecticut, and Thomas J. Hoyt of Gilford and Thailand; a sister, Katherine Thorndike of Meredith; and several nephews and nieces.
