Zacarias T. Chavez

PORTSMOUTH _ Zacarias T. Chavez, 84, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Sunrise Health Center.

Born Nov. 5, 1914, in Libmanan, Philippines, he was the son of Gaudencio and Maria Chavez. He lived there until moving to Portsmouth in 1976.

For many years, he was employed at the former Booth Fisheries until retiring.

He was an avid gardener and a wrestling enthusiast.

He was the husband of Felicidad (Cocatana) Chavez.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five sons, Manuel Chavez and his wife, Marilyn, of Portsmouth, Rogelio Chavez and his wife, Luzviminda, of Portsmouth, Arturo Chavez of Apex, N.C., Amadeo and his wife, Marjorie, of San Diego, and Edgardo and his wife, Joshee, of Woodbridge, Va.; four daughters, Irene Gackle and her husband, Ron, of Honolulu, Amparo Registrado and her husband, Ricardo, of Apex, Ofelia Bayhon and her husband, Romy, of Apex, and Lolita Drabinowicz and her husband, John, of Hudson, N.H.; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother in the Philippines; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers.

Herbert F. Rawson Sr.

NEWFIELDS - Herbert F. Rawson Sr., 71, of Pleasant Street, died suddenly Monday, June 28, 1999, at his home.

Born Nov. 24, 1927, in Stratham, he was the son of William and Faith (Wentworth) Rawson. He lived in Stratham for many years before moving to Newfields 22 years ago.

He was a self-employed brick mason for many years. He also worked for S.E. LaPerle & Son, Dwight Sharp Construction, Wentworth Lumber and Seacoast Mills Building Supply Co.

He was the husband of the late Grace (Davey) Rawson, who died in 1972, and of the late Barbara (Scruton) Rawson, who died in 1995.

Survivors include three sons, Herbert F. Rawson Jr. of Nottingham, N.H., John E. Rawson of Newmarket and Allan Davey of Exeter; seven grandchildren, Tina Schurrman of Wilmington, Mass., Tami Glover of Exeter, Mathew and Victoria Rawson, both of Newmarket, Brenda Nisbit of Newmarket, Allan Davey Jr. of Rochester, and Christina Rawson of Exeter; seven great-grandchildren; two stepsisters, Ida Vigue of Epping and Laurie Wright of Barrington; a stepbrotherrad Rawson; and several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth E. Blake

KITTERY - Elizabeth Ellen Blake, 80, of 19 Love Lane, died Monday, June 28, 1999, at her home

Born Dec. 17, 1918, in Kittery Point, she was the daughter of Ethel E. (Moore) Blake of Kittery and Herbert L. Blake . She attended Kittery schools and was a 1936 graduate of Traip Academy.

She attended the First Christian Church of Kittery Point. She was a member of the Rebecca's and the Piscataqua chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a bird lover and a member of the Audubon Society.

In addition to her mother, survivors include a brother, Everett Blake and his wife, Ethel, of Derry, N.H.; two nieces, Brenda Kuhfuss and her husband, John, of Greenville, S.C., and Carol Pelletier and her husband, Michael, of Derry; and two nephews, Herbert Blake and his wife, Priscilla, of Hooksett, N.H., and Raymond Blake and his wife, Mary, of Sunapee, N.H.
