Irene M. Larin
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Irene M. (Thomson) Larin, 63, of 545 Main St., Falmouth, Mass., and formerly of Richards Avenue in Portsmouth, were held Tuesday, June 8, 1999, from Buckminster Chapel, with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Portsmouth. The Rev. Edward J. Kelley, pastor, officiated.
Eileen Foley was the lector; Jennifer Trently, Mary Ferguson and Dan Welter were the acolytes.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev. Kelley.
Pallbearers were Tom Larin, Artwill Larin, George Chamberlain, Ron Fawcett, Jim Thomson, Dick Thomson, Richard Ireland, Michael Ireland and Buddy Dowd.
On Monday, June 7, the Rev. Kelley held wake services at Buckminster Chapel.
Edward G. Palmer Sr.
ELIOT _ Edward George Palmer Sr., 90, of 51 Pleasant St., died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1909, in Bow, N.H., he was the son of Edward and Flossie Drew Palmer. He moved to Eliot in 1970.
For 40 years, he worked for Rumford Press in Concord, starting as an apprentice and retiring as a compositor/printer responsible for many major publications, including Reader's Digest.
A craftsman, he built two homes and a cottage. He enjoyed woodworking and building fine furniture. Members of his family still own some of his creations, including rocking chairs.
He also enjoyed working with electronics and electricity; during his younger years, he helped many people add electricity to their homes. He was involved with short-wave radios and talked to people across the country. For many years, he built citizens band radios, and enjoyed conversations using the radios he built.
He appreciated music of all types, especially spiritual. He enjoyed motorcycle riding with family and friends into his 70s.
A born again Christian, he was an active member of the Concord Baptist Church and the Eliot Advent Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer and usher.
He the husband of the late Gladys Mae Bonner, who died in March 1975. The couple were married for 49 years. He was also the husband of the late Myra Littlefield.
Survivors include four sons, Smith D. Palmer of Riverside, Calif., Thomas V. Palmer of St. Louis, David A. Palmer of Boscawen, N.H., and Daniel P. Palmer of New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and various family members.
He was predeceased by a son, Eugene, in November 1992; and eldest son, Edward G. Palmer Jr. on Aug. 7, 1997.
