Cecile F. Beaulieu
KITTERY - Cecile F. Beaulieu, 90, of 21 Manson Ave., died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at York Hospital.
Born Nov. 11, 1908, in Auburn, Maine, she was the daughter of Euzebe and Lauza (Sampson) Rioux. She attended Lewiston, Maine, schools.
She worked in shoe shops in Auburn, and also at Delorge Baking Co. in Biddeford, Maine. She was the first resident and matriarch of the Foxwell Association, and also served as the secretary for the association for more than eight years. She worked at Moulton Hall at Foxwell for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Raphael Church in Kittery. Recently, she spent time at Sentry Hill in York, and enjoyed the friends and staff she met while staying there.
She was the wife of the late Donat Beaulieu. The couple were wed for more than 63 years.
Survivors include two sons, Bertrand Beaulieu of Hartford, Conn., and Donat O. Beaulieu Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; three daughters, Lillian B. Schufer of Rocky Hill, Conn., Jeannette L. Houde of Wells, Maine, and Pauline C. Goodale of Eliot; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Richard H. Levine
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Richard H. Levine, 69, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at his home of an apparent heart attack.
Born in West Rutland, Vt., he graduated from the University of Vermont and did graduate study at Vanderbilt University.
He served as a paratrooper in the Army during the Korean War.
He was employed as a reporter for The Baltimore Sun during the 1960s. He also worked for the Rutland Herald and The Associated Press. From 1973 to 1975, he was editor of Publick Occurrences, a weekly newspaper in New Hampshire that uncovered Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis' plans to build a 600,000-barrel-a-day oil refinery on a site overlooking Great Bay near Durham. In the 1980s, he worked at the Washington Times, retiring in 1989.
He wrote free-lance articles for newspapers and magazines throughout the country.
He never cared for computers and preferred to write on a heavy Royal typewriter, so worn out that the "O" key made holes in the paper.
He was the husband of the late Barbara Davis. The couple wed in 1954. She died in 1967.
Survivors include two daughters, Jody Levine Lehrer and Abby Levine, both of Weymouth, Mass.; a brother, Robert Levine of Vermont; and one granddaughter.
