Karen F. Ashburn

LEBANON, Maine - Karen F. (Batchelder) Ashburn, 51, of 878 Bigelow Road, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at her home.

Born Aug. 15, 1948 in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Irene (Perkins) Batchelder.

She attended the former Haven School in Portsmouth, and was a 1966 graduate of Portsmouth High School. She attended Hesser College in Stratham.

She was a member of Emerson Hovey Post 168 Women's Auxiliary, VFW, and Frank E. Booma Unit No. 6, American Legion of Portsmouth.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine Ashburn of Lebanon; a son, William Ashburn of Dover; four grandchildren, Shalee Ashburn, Sean Ashburn, Kayla Ashburn and Jacob Ashburn; a sister, Linda Chigas of Seabrook; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Lincoln P. Batchelder; and two sisters, Martha A. Gorton and Dorothy A. Stanley.

Eleanor R. Powers

COCOA BEACH, Fla. - Eleanor R. Powers, 83, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at National Health Care Center on Merritt Island, Fla.

She was born in Boston. She moved to Cocoa Beach in 1976 from Lynn, Mass.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Powers and his wife, Lenore, of North Hampton, and John C. Powers and his wife, Sandra, of Torrance, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on Aug. 3, 1999, at Church of Our Savior in Cocoa Beach.

Louise W. Marston

EXETER - Louise W. Marston, 81, a resident of Exeter Healthcare and former longtime resident of Exeter Road, North Hampton, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999.

Born June 27, 1918, in Newburyport, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Betts) Webb. She was raised in North Hampton and was a graduate of Portsmouth High School.

She worked at area estates as a cook and housekeeper. Later, she worked for the school lunch program in North Hampton, and as an assistant at the animal hospital for the late Eric Simmons, D.V.M.

She was a former member of the North Hampton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, hooking rugs, and being with animals.

She was the wife of Curtis D. Marston for 59 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Alan C. Marston and his wife, Elizabeth, of Newmarket, and Paul S. Marston and his wife, Mary Lou, of North Hampton; four grandchildren,; seven great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.

Stuart R. Hall Jr.

PORTSMOUTH - Stuart R. Hall Jr., 54, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his home.

Born Dec. 25, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Stuart R. and Mary (Nicholas) Hall of Simsbury, Conn.

He received his bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, and his doctorate from the University of New Hampshire. He also studied classical guitar at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Conn., and was an accomplished musician.

He worked as a computer engineering analyst at Seabrook Station in Seabrook.

He was the husband of Pamela (Sheely) Hall for 32 years.

In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include a sister, Marcia Hall Muzytschenko and her husband, George, and their two children, Kim and Kris, all of Simsbury; three brothers-in-law, Tim, Tom, and Grant Sheely; three nieces and two nephews.
