Robert P. Potter

NORTH BERWICK - Robert P. Potter, 53, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at his residence.

Born July 19, 1946, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Calvin A. and Priscilla (Gobbi) Potter. He attended schools in Kittery, and graduated from Traip Academy in 1966.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9394 of Eliot. He enjoyed camping, hiking and boating.

He was the husband of Barbara (Briggs) Potter.

In addition to his wife and his mother, survivors include two daughters, Rebecca M. and Priscilla L. Potter, both of North Berwick; three brothers, Calvin Potter of Eliot, Thomas Potter of Valdosta, Ga., and Daniel Potter of Parsonsfield, Maine; two sisters, Priscilla Strout of Savannah, Ga., and Constance Hand of Wells; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Busby, who died Jan. 1, 1999.

Grace L. Sessions

KITTERY POINT - Grace L. Sessions, 88, of Crockett's Neck Road, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at her residence.

Born Jan 13, 1911, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Lucious E. Dixon and Lillian S. (Harrow) Seeger. She was a graduate of Sargent's College, Boston, and Chamberlain Finishing School, Boston.

She was a member of the York Golf & Tennis Club, York, and a member of the First Congregational Church, Kittery Point. She loved to play golf. She was also talented and creative with sewing and gardening.

Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Gibbons of Kittery Point; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, Byron C. "Skip" Day Jr., who died in 1973, and her daughter, Sarah Jane "Sally" McFarlane, who died in 1991.

Mary Welch

HAMPTON - Mary (McLaughlin) Welch, 72, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Exeter Healthcare after a lengthy period of illness.

Born Oct. 23, 1926, in Manchester, she was the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Warner) McLaughlin. She was a graduate of Manchester West High School and the Sacred Heart School of Nursing.

Until her retirement in 1980, she worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Infant Asylum, Sacred Heart Hospital, and Catholic Medical Center. After retiring, she moved to Hampton and worked at Exeter Hospital, Exeter Healthcare, and at Country Manor Nursing Home until 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas J. Welch Jr. and his wife, Linda (Weber) Welch of South Danville, N.H., and James J. Welch and his wife, Sharon (Testa) Welch of Portsmouth; two daughters, Mrs. Peter (Kathleen) Bouffard of North Andover, Mass., and Sharon A. Welch of Buena Park, Calif.; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard Welch.

Daniel Wilson

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Daniel Wilson, 66, of 29 Bank St., died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

Born March 5, 1933, in Port Royal, S.C., he was the son of George and Matilda (Brown) Wilson.

For many years he was employed as a truck driver.

He was the husband of the late Elinor M. (Reid) Wilson.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel E. Wilson of Portsmouth, Thomas Wilson and George Wilson, both of Cambridge, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and a cousin, Rose Clark of Portsmouth.

Frances E. Verdi

HAMPTON - Frances E. Verdi, 77, of 562 Winnacunnet Road, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Exeter Healthcare.

Born May 29, 1922, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. and Susan (Noonan) Murphy. A longtime resident of Somerville, Mass., she moved to Hampton after her retirement.

For 35 years, she worked in the food-processing plant of the First National Stores in Somerville, until her retirement in 1975.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, a former member of the Hampton Monday Club, Hampton Senior Citizens, and was active in the FISH program.

She was the wife of the late Guiseppi S. Verdi, who died in 1983.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Eileen M. Tucker of Hampton; one nephew, Paul Murphy of Wheaton, Ill.; two nieces, Sharon Murphy of Wheaton, Ill., and Susan Murphy of St. John of Brookneal, Va.

Lila W. Kimball

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Lila "Myrtle" (Wilson) Kimball, 87, widow of Laurence M. "Posy" Kimball, of 1480 Mordor Lane, Hanover, Md., and formerly of Portsmouth, were held Saturday at Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth.

Services were held at Middle Street Baptist Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. Wayne Price officiated. Mrs. Kimball's grandson Brian Kimball and sister-in-law Leah Trefethen gave words of remembrance. Judy Ringer was vocalist. Murray McNair was organist.

In attendance were members of the church, including representatives from the Ann Judson Fellowship.

Burial was in Congregational Cemetery, Stratham, with committal services by the Rev. Price.

Bearers were Brian Kimball, Kevin Dick, Dean Trefethen and Richard Kimball.
