Samuel Rottenberg
PORTSMOUTH - Samuel Rottenberg, 85, of 64 Hillcrest Drive, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born in Chelsea, Mass., in 1914, he was the son late Isaac and Sarah (Verman) Rottenberg. He attended Chelsea schools and Harvard Business School.
He owned a meat market in Chelsea before enlisting in the Army in 1941. After returning from the service, he owned and operated Crystal Oil in Portsmouth for 25 years. He was a longtime member of Temple Israel in Portsmouth.
He was the beloved husband of Mary (Abrams) for 57 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Meenes and her husband, Ronald, of Framingham, Mass.; a son, Harry Rottenberg and his wife, Deborah, of Rochester; six grandchildren, Scott and Jeffrey Meenes, Nicole and Jay Gendron, and Kyle and David Rottenberg; two brothers, Paul Savsovitz of Saugus, Mass., and Jack Rottenberg of Everett, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by Bessie Elfman Miller.

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Lena Vera Devine, 90, of Portsmouth, were held Saturday at Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth. The Rev. Gordon Allen officiated.
Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, in the spring.
