Seacoast Area College Guide
Having a plan vs having no plan
You're filling out Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) registration forms and college applications when you stumble on a box: Declare your major. You may choke: "Oh my God, I'm supposed to know what I want to do for the rest of my life?"
Next Wave Jobs
What's hot in employment. It's hard to say with exact certainty what the next hot career will be. Few people predicted the Internet's spectacular rise in popularity, and Ellen Cooke, a guidance counselor at Epping High School, says that 60 percent of the jobs that will be available for this year's graduating class don't even have names yet.

Tuition Blues
Imagine buying a new car every year for four years in a row, and we're not talking the no-thrills, hidden-in-the-back-of-the-lot lemon. That's what paying for college is like.
Associate's degrees gain popularity
Careers today often require advanced certifications - degrees beyond your high school diploma or general equivalency diploma. Degrees such as associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral. While most college students earned bachelor's of arts and bachelor's of science degrees and master's and Ph.D.,s at the graduate level, associate degrees were not in high demand.
Until now.
Reshaping the image of a Technical College
"Oh what the heck, there's always the Tech." This old North Country saying mirrored the sentiments of many high school seniors who were either unsure of where to go after graduation or whose grades didn't indicate a traditional four-year college track. The joke, albeit with a serious undertone, was about their last resort option - vocational school.
Dorm life 101
Dorms are filled with excited, nervous, gregarious, shy, hey let's party until the sun shines kinds of people, and the odds of landing the perfect roommate are about as likely as winning a million dollar lottery. But dorm-savvy students agree if you're open-minded, flexible, patient, tolerant, willing to communicate and compromise, you can learn to live with just about anyone.
