Daniel E. Hughes Jr.

BRENTWOOD — Daniel E. Hughes Jr., 58, of Lake Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, in Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born June 10, 1946, in Beverly, Mass., the son of Charlotte (Herndon) Hughes of Brentwood and the late Daniel Hughes Sr. A former longtime resident of Hamilton, Mass., he had been a resident of Brentwood for six years.

He was a graduate of Hamilton High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Hughes was a self-employed truck driver for many years and was most recently a driver for NAPA Auto Parts in Epping.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Florence (Hazen) Hughes; one son, Daniel E. Hughes III of East Wakefield; one daughter, Melissa Hughes of Brentwood; two sisters, Sally Ash of Brentwood and Charlotte Black of Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial services will be held Monday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m., in the N.H. State Veteran’s Cemetery Chapel, Boscawen, with the Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. Military services will follow.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central New England Chapter, 101A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Frederick W. Semprini

EPPING — Frederick W. Semprini, 60, of Calef Highway, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at the Oxford Nursing Home, Haverhill, Mass.

He was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Nyack, N.Y., the son of the late Primo and Dorothy (Heller) Semprini and had resided in Newfields and Exeter, moving to Epping in 1978.

Mr. Semprini was a highway maintenance worker for the state of New Hampshire. He was formerly employed by Timberline Bus Co. and as a custodian for Dreher-Holloway of Exeter.

He was a former volunteer for the Newfields Fire Department and a Little League coach for the Epping Youth Athletic Association.

He was a member of Epping Community Church and served as a trustee of the trust funds for Prospect Cemetery Association, Epping.

He enjoyed working as a mechanic in pit crews for local racing teams.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dorothy M. (Wiggin) Semprini of Epping; two sons, William P. Semprini and Matthew S. Semprini, both of Epping; two sisters, Theresa Collins of California and Jean Shorey of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Semprini.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Epping Community Church with the Rev. Wayne VanGundy officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery, Epping.

Arrangements were by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping.

Leonard T. Fallon

SEABROOK — Leonard Thomas “Lenny” Fallon, 75, of 135 South Main St., died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, following a period of failing health.

He was born July 19, 1929, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late John F. and Isdora (Cutter) Fallon. He had resided in Newburyport, Mass., before moving to Seabrook.

He attended Lawrence High School and later received his G.E.D. from the U.S. Navy. He served during the Korean War from 1946 to 1953, serving aboard the USS Little Rock, the USS Libra and the USS New Jersey.

Mr. Fallon was known for his unusual mechanical ability and was employed by Owens Illinois for 30 years, and had previously been employed by Amesbury Plastic, Amesbury, Mass., for 15 years.

He enjoyed being a grandfather, family trips, walking the boardwalk in Newburyport, following the horses at Suffolk Downs and in later years, the Seabrook dog track and going to Atlantic City.

He was a member of the Newburyport Moose Lodge and the Disabled American Veterans in Portsmouth, and a former member of the American Legion in Seabrook.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Joyce (Sheehan) Fallon; one son, Scott Andrew Fallon and his significant other, Kim A. Kulisich, of Haverhill, Mass.; three daughters, Priscilla Marie Copeland and her fiancé, Jeffrey S. Belmer, of Haverhill; Dora Lea Smith and her husband, Jeffrey A., of Seabrook; and Tina Marie Fallon and her fiancé, Joseph P. Feeley, of Seabrook; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth E. Kelly Sheehan, and one godson, Peter A. Kelleher.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, Hampton. Burial was in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.

Philip J. Brown Jr.

SOUTH HAMPTON — Philip J. Brown Jr., 63, of Main Avenue, died Dec. 19, 2004, at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born April 2, 1941, in Amesbury, Mass., the son of the late Philip J. Brown and Harriett (Tuxbury) Wood, who died Nov. 17, 2004. He lived most of his life in Amesbury until moving to South Hampton to live with his mother.

He was a 1960 graduate of Amesbury High School.

Mr. Brown worked all his life in the construction field and was employed by Puma Construction of Plaistow. He was previously employed by Roy Brothers of Amesbury, and R.G. Watkins Co. of Amesbury and South Hampton.

He enjoyed fly fishing, tying some of his own flies, taking trips to New York state to go salmon and striper fishing, and playing horseshoes.

He is survived by one son, Todd Brown of Frisco, Colo.; one brother, William Brown of Amesbury; three aunts, Helen Russell of Baton Rouge, La., Grace Ducharme of South Hampton, and Edith Tuxbury of Plaistow; three nephews, and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Robert D. Wood.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, with Pastor Ronald Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101.

E. Genevieve Dow

NORTH HAMPTON — E. Genevieve Dow, 95, formerly of Mill Road, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, where she had been a resident since October of 2003.

She was born April 27, 1909, in Greensboro, N.C., the daughter of the late John and Cecelia (Sutton) Golter, and had resided in North Hampton since 1933.

She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and the former Portsmouth Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Dow was a registered nurse and worked at the Portsmouth Hospital for many years, where she served as director of nursing, and also in private duty in the Seacoast area. For several years, she served as private nurse to former Massachusetts Gov. Alvin T. Fuller. With her husband, she operated the S.A. Dow and Son General Store of North Hampton, located where Joe’s Meat Market is today.

She was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Portsmouth, and a former member of the North Hampton Woman’s Club.

The widow of Gordon S. Dow, who died in 1980, she is survived by one son, Bruce G. Dow of North Hampton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Cecelia Edwards of Eliot, Maine.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Cynthia Antell, in 2002, and one sister, Doris Golter.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Spring burial will be in Center Cemetery, North Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Visiting Nurse Association, 29 Lafayette Road, North Hampton, NH 03862.

Villa M. Gauron

SEABROOK — Villa M. Gauron, 99, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Haven Health Center at Seacoast in Hampton.

She was born May 27, 1905, in Seabrook, the daughter of the late Albert M. and Anza B. (Osborne) Dow, and was a lifelong resident of Seabrook.

Mrs. Gauron was a homemaker.

She was the oldest resident of Seabrook and the holder of the Boston Post Cane.

The widow of Edmond F. Gauron, who died in 1984, she is survived by one son and his wife, Dr. Edmond F. and Meredith Gauron Jr. of Seabrook; two grandchildren, Lois A. Gauron and Scott B. Gauron, both of Seabrook, and three great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.

Memorial donations may be made to Rand Memorial Church, South Main Street, Seabrook, NH 03874.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
