Santa makes plans to tour Plaistow

PLAISTOW - Santa Claus is coming to town.

While the elves finish some last-minute toy-making at the North Pole, Santa will continue his tour of Southern New Hampshire towns, which includes a few stops in Plaistow.

On Sunday, Dec. 19, Santa will accompany the Plaistow Fire Department on his annual tour through Plaistow. The tour will begin about 10 a.m. and typically lasts about eight to nine hours as he makes his way down the town roads.

"(Santa) usually starts on the north end and is mid-town around 1:30 and by the time he gets the southern and eastern parts it’s around 4:30 or 5," according to Fire Chief John McArdle, adding that the times may change and parents should listen for the siren in their neighborhoods.

Parents should not call the Fire Department to find out where he is.

And although Santa attempts to tour all the streets in town, his busy schedule might require him to limit going down dead-end streets. This year there will be two trucks with Santa for advance notification that he is on the way.

On Dec. 19, Santa will also stop by the Gazebo in Pollard Park outside the Town Hall for some Christmas caroling and refreshments. The caroling starts at 5 p.m., though it is unclear exactly when Santa will be there.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, Santa will be at Casey’s Diner on Route 125 from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. He will be celebrating "Christmas Goods for the Needy," an annual drive put on by St. Jude Council 6617 Knights of Columbus of Plaistow and Atkinson.

The drive will begin Dec. 13 and donations - children’s toys for boys and girls, non-perishable food items and personal items for women, men, boys and girls - can be dropped off in the Casey’s Diner lobby.
