Exeline M. Major

KEENE - Exeline M. Major, 96, of 72 Carpenter St., died Friday, Nov. 24, 2004, at her daughter’s home after a period of failing health.

She was born Feb. 29, 1908, in Keene, the daughter of Mathias and Marie-Anna (Vaines) Joyal and was a lifelong resident of Keene.

She attended Keene schools.

Mrs. Major was a final inspector for the MPB Corp., Keene, for 22 years.

She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church, Keene. She was the oldest member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality ; a former member of the Keene Senior Citizens Center and a volunteer at the Cheshire Medical Center Gift Shop for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, crocheting, sewing, traveling and celebrating her real birthday every four years.

The widow of Albert G. Major who died in 1972, she is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Edith Major of Red Hook, N.Y., Norman and Brenda Major of Plaistow and Donald Major of Waynesboro, Tenn.; one daughter and her husband, Caroline and Royal Desrosiers of Keene; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Claire Perkins, who died in 2002; 10 brothers; and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Nov. 29 in St. Bernard Church, Keene with the Rev. Eric Delisle, parochial vicar, as the celebrant. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hinsdale.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, c/o St. Bernard’s Parish 173 Main St., Keene, NH 03431.

Arrangements were by the Foley Funeral Home, Keene.

David R. Martin

EXETER - David Ray Martin, 77, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital after battling a heart condition, diabetes and lung cancer.

He was born March 13, 1927, in York, Pa., the son of Ralph and Edna Martin. He had resided at Sherwood Forest Estates in Exeter for nine years, in Sandown for 24 years and in Malden, Mass.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Martin operated a TV repair business for many years and retired from Sanders Associates in Nashua.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, camping and building projects.

The widower of Florence E. Martin, who lost her life Aug. 23, 2004, in an automobile accident in Portsmouth, he is survived by one son and his wife, Kenneth J. and Cindy Martin of Salem; two daughters and their husbands, Linda L. and Richard Nowers of Columbia, S.C., and Kathy L. and Raymond Fawcett of Epping; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Doris Wilson of York, Pa., and Bernice Osborne of Granada Hills, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 8 Pleasant St., Epping. Graveside services will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101, Gail Singer Memorial Bldg., Bedford, NH 03110 or to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101.
