Daniel F. Brei

RAYMOND - Daniel F. Brei, 96, formerly of Evelyn Avenue, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Heartland Place in Epsom.

He was born July 21, 1908, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of the late George L. and Philipine (Grimm) Brei. He resided in Boston and Cambridge, Mass., before moving to Raymond in 1973.

He was a former active member of the Raymond Congregational Church; the Ray-Fre Senior Citizens; the Raymond Historic Society; the Tucker Lodge A.F. & A.M., Adah Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; Scottish Rite Bodies; and Bektash Temple Shrine of Concord.

He is survived by one sister, Ines Campbell of San Diego; and one niece, Phyllis Peters of Madison, Maine.

Funeral services conducted by the Tucker Lodge were held Monday in the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond. Spring burial will be in Corinna Center Cemetery, Corinna, Maine.

Philip J. Brown Jr.

SOUTH HAMPTON - Philip J. Brown Jr., 63, of Main Avenue, died Dec. 19, 2004, at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born April 2, 1941, in Amesbury, Mass., the son of the late Philip J. Brown and Harriett (Tuxbury) Wood, who died Nov. 17, 2004. He lived most of his life in Amesbury until moving to South Hampton to live with his mother.

He was a 1960 graduate of Amesbury High School.

Mr. Brown worked all his life in the construction field and was employed by Puma Construction of Plaistow. He was previously employed by Roy Brothers of Amesbury, and R.G. Watkins Co. of Amesbury and South Hampton.

He enjoyed fly fishing, tying some of his own flies, taking trips to New York to go salmon and striper fishing, and playing horseshoes.

He is survived by one son, Todd Brown of Frisco, Colo.; one brother, William Brown of Amesbury; three aunts, Helen Russell of Baton Rouge, La., Grace Ducharme of South Hampton and Edith Tuxbury of Plaistow; three nephews; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Robert D. Wood.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, with Pastor Ronald Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101.

Vivian B. Cammett

ANDOVER, Mass. - Vivian B. Cammett, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at the Wingate of Andover from the culmination of 40 years with diabetes.

She was born in Raymond, the daughter of Hugh O. and Olive W. Brown, and was a 1948 graduate of Raymond High School.

Mrs. Cammett was the primary caregiver for her 46-year-old son and was a teacher’s aide in the Andover school system. She had previously worked in the family business in Raymond before moving to Andover in 1960.

She enjoyed traveling, making extensive trips to England, Canada and to most of the United States. She loved the mountains, the seashore and historic New England. She kept detailed journals of her travels.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert P. Cammett of Andover; one son, Robert H. Cammett of Andover; three sisters, Erma I. Hamer of Derry and Northport, Fla., M. Maxine Carver of Raymond, and Jeanne Ciavardone of Staten Island, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Florence E. Langille.

Memorial services will be held Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at 3 p.m. in Raymond Congregational Church, Church Street, Raymond, with the Rev. Charles Redfern officiating. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101, or to the American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond.

Pascal F. Carvotta Sr.

LAS VEGAS - Pascal F. Carvotta Sr., 83, of Olympus Avenue, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at his home.

He was born July 30, 1921, in East Boston, Mass., the son of the late Joseph and Carmela (Pastorelli) Carvotta, and was raised in East Boston. He had resided in Danvers, Mass., and Atkinson before moving to Nevada six years ago.

He was a graduate of East Boston High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Carvotta and his wife owned and operated the Carpet Warehouse in Salem.

The widow of Eda E. Carvotta, he is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Carvotta and Pascal F. Carvotta Jr., both of Las Vegas; one daughter and her husband, Donna B. and Howard Moulton of Newfields; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Theresa Massa of Maynard, Mass.; and one stepsister, Anna Meyer of Malden, Mass.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Marianne Carvotta.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday in St. Michael Church, Exeter. Burial was in Plaistow Cemetery, Plaistow.

Memorial donations may be made to the Marianne Carvotta Caring House, c/o Pregnancy Care Center, 496 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830.

Arrangements were by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.
