    Bowling fund-raiser set

    04/06/07 - Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Seacoast is planning their largest annual fund-raiser, Bowl for Kids Sake, on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Bowl-o-Rama on Lafayette Road in Portsmouth.

    Gardening for children

    04/06/07 - "Kids Can Grow," a summer gardening program offered by UNH Cooperation Extension 4-H Youth Development and the UNH Master Gardener program, for youth 8-14 years of age, is just about ready to begin.

    WTSN airs NY Yankees

    04/06/07 - For the 10th season in a row, WTSN AM 1270 has signed an exclusive agreement with The New York Yankees to air the team's games to fans in the seacoast area of New Hampshire and Southern Maine.

    Hospital, HUB wrap up parenting series April 17

    04/06/07 - The HUB Family Resource Center and Wentworth-Douglass Hospital announce the final workshop for the "Family Journey" series is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the hospital. The workshop is free of charge and is open to new parents, parents-to-be, caregivers, foster parents and grandparents.

    Masons to host DARE, Y2Y breakfast buffet fund-raiser on Saturday

    04/06/07 - The Moses Paul Masonic Lodge #96 will be hosting the annual breakfast buffet fund-raiser Saturday, April 7, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. to benefit the DARE and Youth to Youth programs. The buffet will be held at the Moses Paul Masonic Lodge at 32 Pearl St. in Dover. The breakfast is buffet style to cut down on any waiting.

    Alzheimer's educational seminar set

    04/06/07 - To provide caregivers of persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease and related dementias with the information and support they need, The Homemakers Health Services will be offering an Alzheimer's Educational Training seminar on Saturday, April 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at its office located at 215 Rochester Hill Road, Rochester. The program is free and open to the public.

    Arthritis self-help course to begin on April 19

    04/06/07 - Rehab 3 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester will be offering an Arthritis Self-Help Course beginning Thursday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This six-week course, taught by two physical therapists, is designed to provide information about living with arthritis and strategies to help manage the disease. Any person having one of the more than 100 types of arthritis, including fibromyalgia, may attend.

    Health care education scholarships available

    04/06/07 - Thanks to a lifetime of hard work, successful farming in the blueberry fields of New Jersey and sound financial investments, New Hampshire native Samuel Yarnold and his wife, Alice, bequeathed more than $800,000 in scholarship funds for New Hampshire residents.

    Soccer team on the ball

    04/06/07 - This Dover U12 boys indoor soccer team recently won their division in the Seacoast United Indoor League, with a 3-2 victory in the championship game and an overall record of 6-1-1.

    4-H mini-society completed

    04/06/07 - 4-H Youth from the Seymour Osman Community Center in Dover recently completed an eight-week 4-H youth development program called "Mini-Society," where youth learned how to create, start and maintain their own business.

    Dover Rotary offers $12K in scholarships for high school seniors

    04/06/07 - The Dover Rotary announces their enhanced Scholarship Program will be awarding $12,000 to graduating high school seniors in 2007. Three scholarships will be awarded to students graduating from Dover High School, St. Thomas Aquinas High School or Portsmouth Christian Academy.
