Brentwood Country Store. It took Dow and her husband two weeks to revive the store to the pleasantly rustic space it is now.
Some additions were needed before they opened shop. The couple added a breakfast area where customers could sit while enjoying some pastries and Green Mountain brand coffee. They also added a slush puppy machine for children to enjoy. Dow also has an impressive assortment of jams stacked in the back of the store.
Although the store's friendly interior doesn't just magically stay in place. Dow works at the store every day from 4:30 a.m. until it closes at 9 p.m. Her twin 17-year-old daughters sometimes help her run the store.
"This is home basically now. I take a nap in the bathroom once in a while," said Dow.
She's looking to build an addition to the store to be turned into a nursery. She and her husband are expecting a new child to arrive on their doorstep any day now. Newly married to her second husband for two years, the couple wanted to raise a child of their own. They chose to adopt a baby boy from Guatemala.
"We were looking at different places like Russia, but there was too much paperwork and took much longer. This is an easier process," said Dow.
She's planning to name the child William, after her husband.
"We've seen a picture of him. He's tiny," said Dow.
