Howard Altschiller is the executive editor for Seacoast Newspapers.
Roger Brown is a University of Maine graduate and has been working for the Herald as a sportswriter since 1992. In addition to writing a weekly sports column, his responsibilities include covering high school football and University of New Hampshire hockey. He lives in Stratham with his wife Cheryl, his daughter Colby, and his sons Zachary and Nicholas.
Nancy Cicco is the special sections editor for Seacoast Media Group. In that role, she edits the company’s Home & Garden magazine, among other niche publications. She joined the company in 1998 and has held many posts since then. She has worked as a reporter for the Rockingham News, The York Weekly and the Portsmouth Herald; has served as the editor of the Rockingham News, and has worked as a features writer for the Portsmouth Herald.
Frank Coppola is the assistant sports editor for Seacoast Media Group and has been with the company since 1999. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, he began his journalism career at the Lewiston Sun Journal in Maine. Frank is a native of Derry, N.H., and now lives in Lee with his wife, Bekki. His fantasy sports column appears each week in Herald Sunday.
Rick Fabrizio joined The Hampton Union in January 2006 as editor after serving for three years as editor of Seacoast Media Group's Herald Sunday publication.
Shir Haberman has covered events on the New Hampshire Seacoast for the past two decades. He began his career working for the Atlantic News in Hampton, and moved to the Portsmouth Herald in 1988. While with the Herald he has held virtually every position in the newsroom, from librarian to City Hall reporter and from editorial page editor to city editor.
Wayne Hooper's column, "The Great Outdoors," has appeared in the Portsmouth Herald for the last 10 years. A native of the Seacoast, he graduated from R.W. Traip Academy in Kittery and continued his education at Washington State Teachers college, majoring in English.
Daniel King is editor of the York County Coast Star. A native of Minnesota and Illinois, he worked for two daily papers in Illinois before coming to the Coast Star in 1995. He enjoys UMaine basketball, the Celtics and golf. He lives in Kennebunk with his wife and two children.
Michael McCord Business editor and award-winning journalist Michael McCord began his career in the 1970s as a contributor to the European edition of Stars and Stripes.
Deb McDermott is the Maine bureau chief for the Portsmouth Herald. She has worked as a journalist for more than 20 years, as a reporter at the Daily Hampshire Gazette and The Recorder in Western Massachusetts, and as editor at The Ellsworth American in Ellworth, Maine and The York Weekly. She enjoys gardening, music and reading. She lives in York, Maine, with her daughter, Bridget, her dog, Bazil, and her cat, Kezar.
Susan Morse is a senior writer for Seacoast Media Group, covering the town of Seabrook for the Hampton Union.
Ken Stejbach 58, has a wonderful 9-year-old son who's playing hockey. I hope to work full time at the golf course this year. If not, paint my brains out.. Oh yeah, I'm a sports writer, too.
J.L. Stevens is deputy managing editor, features, at Seacoast Newspapers. This includes oversight of Spotlight magazine, and the weekly hard-hitting iT features feature, EXPOSURE: An interrogation of ordinary people. She began her career with the paper in September, 2002, after serving the arts and entertainment community in neighboring Dover, N.H. for about seven years. She doesn't like writing about herself in the third person, and loves the uplifting music of Bill Morrissey.
Mike Zhe joined the Herald as a sports writer in 2001. A native of Springfield, Mass., his responsibilities include covering the football and basketball teams at the University of New Hampshire as well as the region's professional teams. He lives in Newmarket with his wife, Lisa, and son, Tyler.
