3 X 3: Three men, three women, three questions

Interviews by Emily Eiggin and Micheal Keating

The Women

Jennifer Komisarek, 27, Portsmouth, waitress

Jen Broadbent, 27, Newmarket, middle school teacher

Beth Ann Schmitt, 33, Portsmouth, Education Coordinator at Strawbery Banke

1. What were you doing the last time you broke into a sweat?

JENNIFER: Running on the treadmill.

JEN: Market Square Day Race.

BETH ANN: Hiking in Mossman Gorge in Australia.

2. When you go to the gym, do you check out the “talent?”

JENNIFER: No (emphatically)

JEN: No (laughing)

BETH ANN: I don’t belong to a gym anymore.
(If you did?)
If it’s really good talent, well, one can’t help but notice....

3. What’s the ugliest part of your body?

JENNIFER: The love handles.

JEN: Ummm...my toes?

BETH ANN: I gotta be honest and say — my thighs. I’m a woman and I’m willing to admit it. My thighs are my weakness.

The Men

Joshua Siegel, 33, San Francisco, Graduate Naropa Univ, Boulder, BA Interdisiplinary Studies

Richard Dennis, 34, York, Maine, carpenter

Bill Lesmerises, 25, Bar Harbor, Maine, works on a 70 ft. private sailboat

1. What were you doing the last time you broke into a sweat?

JOSHUA: I think I was walking around in the hot sun here in Portsmouth

RICHARD: I can’t remember the last time I broke into a sweat. ... I try not to.

BILL: Hiking near Cadillac Mountain in Maine

2. When you go to the gym, do you check out the “talent?”

JOSHUA: Well, Honestly I haven’t been to a gym in quite a long time. But were I to go to a gym I would definitely check out the talent

RICHARD: I don’t go to the gym.

(Well, how about if you did go to the gym?)

What’s the quote, unquote talent?

(Well, presumably it would be the women.)

Would I check out women if I went to the gym? Yeah, definitely.

BILL: Yes, for sure.

3. What’s the ugliest part of your body?

JOSHUA: Wow... my toenails.

RICHARD: Probably my big toe.

BILL: Probably my ass.
